Dear Belles,
Hellz Belles Co will be going through some changes over the next few weeks and I thought I should explain the direction and reasoning behind these changes.
I created this brand with the plan to bring in a manufacturer in order to keep prices more reasonable and be able to create high quality closet staples for alt-girlies at any budget level. In the meantime, I have been making everything by hand and selling each piece as if I already had the manufacturer, which isn’t sustainable.
With the world how it is, and the impact of “fast fashion”, I’ve come to the realization that I would like to keep the brand hand-made to order to be able to keep the quality high and have a less wasteful manufacturing process to cut down the amount of clothing thrown away each and every day. I want Hellz Belles to be a sustainable brand that pushes back against fast fashion.
For merch, we have also partnered with a print-on-demand company in order to reduce waste in minimum order quantities and shipping.
However, all this comes at a cost. For me to be able to hand-sew each item sustainably in the future, we will need to raise our prices to a sustainable level where I can actually afford to do this full-time. I know this will make it more difficult to afford some of our items, but I put multiple hours of love and care into each and every item that I send out, and I want to be able to continue to do that sustainably into the future.
I hope that you will continue to support Hellz Belles in the future and help us fight back against the fast fashion industry by spending a little more money upfront to have a unique piece of art that will last years instead of weeks.
